We added support for gRPC and HTTP/2 to our edge infrastructure! We are so excited to support more protocols, so you can use the ones you want to connect to your services over the Internet!
Here is our entire changelog update for the week:
-
gRPC support
Previously, our gRPC support only extended to communication between services running inside the service mesh. This meant your services could communicate with one another over gRPC inside the mesh, but you could not use gRPC to query your service over the Internet.
Starting today, you can now use gRPC to connect to your services running on Koyeb over the Internet! gRPC support for public services is in technical preview and currently accessible only with the CLI.
-
HTTP/2 support
You can now use HTTP/2 to reach your services running on Koyeb over the Internet.
In addition to gRPC support, we added HTTP/2 support to the platform. Both gRPC and HTTP/2 extend the network capabilities of the platform with minimal configuration.
HTTP/2 reduces overhead by using header compression, reduces latency by allowing response multiplexing, and its use of binary protocols consumes less bandwidth.
HTTP/2 support for public services is in technical preview and currently accessible only with the CLI.

New Aiven MySQL database documentation
Aiven provides fully-managed open source databases that work across different cloud providers. To get you started, we published a documentation covering how to connect an Aiven MySQL database to an application running on Koyeb.
